The company was founded in 1990 by Charles Cecil, Tony Warriner, David Sykes and Noirin Carmody. Until 6 December 1990, the company was named Turnvale Limited after the location in their first game ''Lure of the Temptress''.〔 The company's speciality would be for writing adventure games, including ''Beneath a Steel Sky'', and the ''Broken Sword'' series which have sold over 4 million copies worldwide and have earned £100 million.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Revolution Games Facebook Info )〕 The company was started with a view to creating ''Lure of the Temptress'' – which incorporated the Virtual Theatre Engine.
